Axiom Space is seeking a bold Spacesuit Design Engineer to drive design, prototyping, and testing of engineered softgoods and hard components for commercial spaceflight. The role emphasizes CAD in an industrial setting, rigorous verification, and agile project management within a mission-driven team.

The successful candidate will manage design documentation, work with manufacturing for producibility, and communicate progress to leadership while meeting critical milestones and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 2–12 years of experience or equivalent education/experience mix.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD environments.
• Demonstrated ability to operate in fast-moving environments.
• Strong problem-solving and timely delivery skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and analyze spacesuit designs from concept through validation.
• Procure, assemble, and test advanced prototypes to inform decisions.
• Present designs at design/test readiness reviews and document results.
• Support hardware requirements and manufacturability considerations.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure safety and performance standards.
