Job summary

Service Steel Aerospace, a leading global distributor of aerospace metals, seeks a Saw Operator for its Wichita, KS facility. 1st shift: Mon–Fri 6:30 am–3:00 pm.

You will set up and operate band saws to cut aluminum, titanium, stainless steels, and other exotic metals, ensuring conformance to work orders and quality standards. Responsibilities include reading work orders, measuring with calipers and tapes, loading materials with forklift or crane, and maintaining a safe, clean workspace while

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Quickly learn multiple functions in a complex industry.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of operating industrial equipment, band saws preferred.
• Good math skills, including measurements.
• Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices.
• Ability to read measuring equipment like calipers and tape.
• Operate a crane/forklift.
• Self-motivated, initiative-driven.
• Experienced meeting targets and deadlines.
• Adaptable with a positive attitude toward change.
• Motivated, communicative, goal oriented.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate band saws to cut various metals to spec.
• Read work orders for material type, stock size, and dimensions.
• Retrieve material and transfer stock to saws (manual, forklift, or crane).
• Install blades and set cutting speeds as required.
• Remove used blades and maintain tool housekeeping.
• Input data to set saw parameters per shop orders.
• Position material using back stops when needed.
• Start coolant flow and observe cutting operation.
• Measure work to specifications with calipers and tape.
• Mark identifying data on product and move material as needed.
• Input data into inventory system and comply with QA procedures.
• Follow all JSAs, safety procedures, and quality requirements.
