Job summary

GE Aerospace in the United States seeks a Senior SMS Engineer to lead the Safety Management System across multiple sites. You will develop, maintain, and improve safety assurance, performance monitoring, and regulatory compliance, using data-led insights to elevate safety.

You will oversee audits, hazard analysis, and continuous improvement, collaborating with engineering, production, and leadership. Strong aviation regulation knowledge and stakeholder engagement are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Engineering, Safety Management, Human Factors, Aviation Management, Data Analytics, or related discipline.
• Safety Management System training/experience.
• Internal auditor qualification or equivalent assurance experience desirable.
• Working within FAA and/or EASA regulated environments. Understanding export controls.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and improve Safety Assurance processes aligned with SMS objectives.
• Monitor SMS maturity; provide safety data, dashboards, and governance outputs for leadership.
• Support regulatory audits and ensure corrective actions are closed effectively.
• Lead enterprise safety improvements and cross-site safety initiatives.
