Job summary

RTX's Effector RF Design Department in Tucson is seeking a motivated RF Design Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to contribute to detailed design, simulation, product development, and initial testing across radar and datalink applications. You will join a team that designs for challenging mechanical constraints and extreme environments.

The role offers hands-on lab work, mentorship, and opportunities to shadow experienced engineers while you pursue a BS or MS in STEM.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related STEM major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship/co-op session.
• Experience and/or coursework in programming and/or simulation experience in MATLAB, SIMULINK, C/C++, or equivalent language.
• Experience and/or coursework with one or more of the following: Communication theory, Digital signal processing, Probability theory, Stochastic signal processing, and/or RF and electromagnetic theory

Responsibilities

• Supporting design and development of transmitters, receivers or exciters.
• Experience designing and optimizing RF circuits – either chains of components (receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.)
• Working in a lab to accomplish component characterization as well as module verification and integration.
• Working with interdisciplinary teams – power, digital, mechanical, etc.
• Schematic capture and detailed design.
