Job summary

Saab West Lafayette, IN, is seeking a Technical Writer to join a team manufacturing rear sections of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft for the USAF. You’ll serve as local SME for technical writing, guide inspectors, and ensure quality documentation across NCRs, FAI, MRB, and inspection plans.

The role requires AS/BS STEM background or equivalent manufacturing quality experience, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate with global teams. Salary range/benefits apply; US citizenship required.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements associated with electro-mechanical assembly
• Ability to interpret and revise written documentation/work instructions for consistency and efficiency
• Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrates a collaborative approach to problem-solving
• Ability to be self-driven and deliver high-quality results across a global team
• Ability to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across multiple shifts
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership
• Identify common/repeated quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
• Develop best practices for technical writing throughout the organization; maintain/update best practices
• Generate Nonconformance Reports, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, First Article Inspections, and MRB dispositions
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements (ISO/AS standards)
• Facilitate controls/solutions to provide high-quality products within schedule
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments
• Contribute to Saab's people-first culture reflecting Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support
• Other projects and tasks as assigned
