Job summary

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston seeks a Quality Operations Manager to ensure manufacturing processes meet aerospace standards and customer expectations.

You will lead QA initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to embed quality into design and production.

This senior role requires 10+ years in regulated aerospace quality, CQE/CQA certification, and strong leadership across sites; travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of quality management experience in a regulated aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
• CQE, CQA, or equivalent ASQ certification required; Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 5% to domestic and international customers or suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee QA compliance with aerospace standards (AS9100, FAA, EASA) across the production lifecycle.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma/Lean to optimize quality performance and reduce defects.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to embed quality requirements into design, production, and sourcing.
• Train and mentor quality team members; foster accountability, safety, and development.
• Identify and mitigate quality risks; lead root-cause investigations and implement CAPAs.
• Conduct audits and inspections; ensure corrective/preventive actions are sustained.
