Job summary

RTCA is seeking an Aerospace Manufacturing Quality Manager to lead the Quality function at our Chatsworth, CA facility. This hands-on leadership role oversees the QMS (AS9100), audits, supplier quality, and continuous improvement on flight-critical programs.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in engineering or quality, 5+ years in aerospace quality with 3+ in management, strong auditing skills, and experience with CMM, AS9102, and RCCA/CAPA. Onsite with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years quality experience in aerospace or precision CNC machining.
• At least 3 years in a quality supervisory/management role.
• Strong AS9100 knowledge; ability to maintain a QMS and lead audits.
• Experience with nonconforming material/MRB, RCA, and corrective actions (8D, 5-Why, fishbone).
• Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, and flowdown requirements.
• Knowledge of inspection methods, AS9102, CMM inspection, and calibration/gage control.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and ability to drive improvements and closure of corrective actions.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to interact with customers/suppliers/auditors.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Quality department and manage the site’s quality system to ensure audit readiness and customer compliance.
• Own and maintain QMS in AS9100 compliance and oversee internal audits, supplier audits, and registrar audits.
• Coach and develop the quality team, manage staffing and performance.
• Plan and lead internal audits and support customer, registrar, and regulatory audits with timely closure.
• Drive RCCA/CAPA and root-cause analysis for internal, supplier, and customer escapes.
• Manage nonconforming material and MRB activities with accurate records.
• Serve as primary quality contact for customers and manage quality clauses in contracts.
• Oversee First Article Inspection (AS9102), and CMM programming priorities for on-time delivery.
• Ensure calibration and gage control across inspection and CMM equipment.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain on supplier qualification and corrective actions.
• Establish and report quality metrics and communicate status to leadership.
• Promote quality at the source and operator ownership on the shop floor.
• Support quality planning for new programs, including PFMEA and control plans.
• Use ERP/MRP to manage quality records and align processes across divisions.
• Take on additional duties as needed.
