Job summary

RTCA is a precision aerospace and defense manufacturer with decades of machining expertise and a strong North American footprint. The Quality Inspector role is onsite at our Chatsworth, CA location, focusing on dimensional and visual inspections to ensure AS9100/ISO compliance and conformance to customer specs.

You will interpret engineering drawings per GD&T, document inspection results, and collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams on containment and improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in quality inspection within aerospace or precision manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges and related tools.
• Understanding of inspection methods and basic shop math/trigonometry.
• Accurate completion of quality documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Effective verbal and written communication in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional and visual inspections on materials, in-process parts, assemblies, and finished components.
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, and specs per ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Verify conformance to customer, regulatory, and internal requirements (AS9100/ISO).
• Maintain inspection records and traceability docs.
• Support or lead FIRST Article Inspection (FAI) and AS9102.
• Identify nonconforming conditions and coordinate containment/resolution with teams.
• Contribute to root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior inspectors as needed.
