Job summary

Barnes Aerospace, East Granby, CT, seeks a Quality Engineer to plan and direct quality activities for aerospace processes, materials and products, ensuring customer expectations are met while maintaining cost effectiveness.

The role involves implementing QA and process controls, auditing, corrective actions, and continuous improvement across manufacturing and supplier interfaces. Bachelor's degree and 3+ years in aerospace quality are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline.
• Experience with FAA regulatory requirements, ISO9001:2015, AS9100, NADCAP and AS13100.
• Experience performing internal and supplier audits.
• Knowledge of statistical methods for process control, capability analysis and gage R&R.

Responsibilities

• Compile and submit packages for customer approval (FAI, SPS, ESA, PPAP, etc.).
• Develop and maintain systems for quality control, quality assurance and process control to support customer requirements.
• Train employees in quality control, SPC, quality assurance, auditing and required documentation.
• Perform product, process and system audits and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Lead or participate in corrective action and continuous improvement activities.
• Perform root cause analysis and closed-loop corrective actions.
• Coordinate and document employee training and manage program/project improvements.
• Develop inspection plans, control plans and FMEA and other quality planning documents.
• Develop and implement methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
• Coordinate failure analysis on discrepant product and ensure corrective action is implemented.
• Dispositon of discrepant material and cost accountability methods.
• Review Manufacturing Operation Sheets to ensure processes and methods meet requirements.
• Represent QA on new product startup teams and identify customer workmanship/tracking needs.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
