Job summary

Toray Advanced Composites in Fairfield, CA, seeks an Associate Temporary Quality Engineer to support aerospace manufacturing on a 6‑month contract. You will perform First Article Inspections (FAI) and verify AS9100 Rev D conformance for components and documentation.

The ideal candidate will quickly adapt to new digital systems, interpret aerospace drawings with GD&T, and manage non‑conforming material using NCR/DR processes, while collaborating with production teams on root‑cause investigations.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of hands-on quality engineering or inspection experience in AS9100 aerospace/defense manufacturing.
• Foundational GD&T reading and interpretation of ASME Y14.5 symbols.
• Experience in short-term contract roles and ability to learn internal software/workflows.
• ASQ CQI or CQT certification considered.

Responsibilities

• First Article Inspections (FAI): Independently author, review, and compile AS9102-compliant FAI documentation (Forms 1, 2, and 3).
• Non-Conformance Management: Identify, isolate, and generate NCRs/DRs for non-conforming materials.
• Floor Inspection Support: Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges to verify dimensions.
• FOD Control & Safety Enforcement: Enforce debris/damage prevention protocols.
• Escalation & Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing and senior quality staff for root-cause investigations.
