Responsibilities

• Coordinate material requirements with Scheduling, Production, Sales, and Marketing to support short-term forecasting and prepare purchase orders.
• Evaluate daily MRP (material requirements plan) on an ERP system for assigned commodities to determine material supply needs and take actions to meet those needs while keeping inventory investment targets.
• Research and evaluate new suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, availability, reliability, and production and distribution capabilities; assess supplier reputation.
• Evaluate existing suppliers based on performance and liaise with Quality on vendor scorecard criteria; provide data for scorecards.
• Track vendor delivery performance for purchased parts and services to evaluate supplier performance.
• Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other vendor data to determine reasonable pricing parameters; monitor price changes for feedback to customer contract/team.
• Work with Accounts Payable to assess and approve invoices to ensure issues are resolved within pay terms.
• Monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery and communicate issues with relevant departments; liaise with Receiving to ensure PO receipt timelines.
• Review open purchase orders to ensure they are fulfilled and closed monthly; manage inventory levels in the Tool Crib with min/max levels and periodic inventories.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Warehousing to eliminate aged inventory and improve turnover; participate in corrective actions for defective goods.
