Job summary

The Structures Company in Irvine, CA is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support multi-state payroll processing for a nationwide client base. This contract role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, and collaboration with HR and finance teams.

You will handle payroll runs, reconcile data, and respond to employee pay inquiries while leveraging HRIS systems and Excel for reporting. Prior experience in aerospace/defense payroll is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations.
• Extensive knowledge of payroll processing, taxes, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Experience with payroll or HRIS platforms and Excel.
• Ability to work independently while flagging issues proactively.
• Preferred: 4+ years of progressive payroll experience.
• Preferred: Experience processing multi-state payroll and complex scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and supports processing of payroll runs across multiple U.S. states and entities.
• Maintains compliance with Federal, State, and Local payroll laws.
• Reconciles payroll data and benefits across systems, ledgers, and vendors.
• Keeps payroll documentation and tax records organized for accurate processing.
• Addresses payroll questions and resolves discrepancies for employees.
• Assists with payroll reconciliations, audits, and reporting.
• Supports full-cycle, multi-state payroll functions across entities.
• Handles ad hoc requests related to payroll processing.
