Job summary

Hytek Finishes in Kent, WA seeks an Aerospace Paint Assistant to support paint operations on-site. This non-exempt, full-time role runs on the 2nd shift with pay and benefits outlined below, including a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist painters and department leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
  • Follow shop traveler, technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and supervisor instructions.
  • Review paperwork to ensure prior operations are complete; notify supervisor/QA of errors.
  • Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning.
  • Prepare parts per Purchase Orders and Tech Cards.
  • Perform inspection, measurement, and testing of part surfaces as required.
  • Maintain paint guns and booths; ensure cleanliness at shift end.
  • Perform pre- and post-cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Follow Quality Assurance requirements and safety precautions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

Title: Aerospace Paint Assistant

Reports to: Shift Supervisor or Value Stream Manager

Location: Kent, WA – onsite

Type: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Schedule Type: 2ndst Shift

Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. Normal Shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday – Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday – Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)

Salary Range for position:

$ 19.30 - $ 28.80.

The pay range and total compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to your relevant experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other employees. Position Summary

Employees in this position will prepare a variety of parts in order to apply paint and primers. Paint Assistants will also lay parts out on screens, transport loaded screens in and out of paint booths/ovens, and sand parts. Paint Assistants may be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program* . Paint Assistants perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications.

* FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial pre-employment drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with experienced Painters and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
  • Follow shop traveler, technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced Operators and Department Leads.
  • General review of paperwork to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
  • Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning.
  • Prepare parts as called out in Purchase Orders and Tech Cards.
  • Perform inspection, measuring, and testing or part surfaces as required.
  • Maintain paint guns and paint booths ensuring cleanliness at the close of shifts.
  • Perform pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Follow Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Follow safety precautions as trained.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Pre-employment and annual physical exam required; ability to wear a respirator.

  • Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with other employees, Customers, and auditors.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility.
Education & Experience
  • 1-2 years in a manufacturing environment a plus.

  • Ability to lift occasionally: (floor to knee) 114 lbs., (waist to waist) 63 lbs., (floor, knee, to waist) 75 lbs., (waist to shoulder) 30 lbs.

Work Environment:
  • Hearing protection required in certain areas.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • Temperature fluctuations based on outdoor conditions.
  • PPE required: safety glasses/goggles, aprons, rubber boots, gloves, respirator (provided by company).
