Job summary

Hytek Finishes in Kent, WA is seeking an Abrasive Blast Operator for a full-time, non-exempt first shift. The role involves blasting parts to prepare surfaces, following drawings and instructions, and ensuring on-time delivery.

At times, you may need to participate in FAA/DOT-related testing programs as required by the job. You will work closely with experienced inspectors to prioritize tasks, apply masking as needed, and verify completed work.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Blast parts using appropriate media to prepare surfaces.
  • Follow technique cards, PO and drawings; apply maskants as required.
  • Prepare parts with proper tooling and fixtures.
  • Sign off on work after verification inspections.
  • Review paperwork and coordinate with QA for any errors.
  • Understand pre/post cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Familiar with QA requirements and rework procedures; read engineering drawings.

Title: Abrasive Blast Operator

Reports to: VSM or Shift Supervisor

Location: Kent, WA – onsite

Type: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Schedule Type: 1st Shift

Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. Normal Shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday – Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday – Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)

Salary Range for position: $ 21.00 - $ 40.00. The pay range and total compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to your relevant experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other employees. Position Summary

Employees in this position use a variety of media to blast parts in preparation for a variety of surface finishes. Blasters may be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. Blasters perform operations in accordance with Military, Industry and OEM specifications.

* FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial pre-employment drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with experienced Shot Peen Inspectors to complete work and prioritize tasks for On-Time delivery.
  • Follow technique card, customer Purchase Orders and drawings, and instructions from experienced operators; apply maskants as required.
  • Prepare parts prior to operations; use proper tooling and fixtures, when applicable.
  • Legibly sign off on work once completed and Operator Self Verification inspection has occurred.
  • General review of paperwork and Operator Self Verification inspection of job to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
  • Knowledge of pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Familiar with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures.Be familiar with engineering drawing notations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
  • Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with other employees, Customers, and auditors.
  • Required to participate in annual Hearing Conservation testing and Eye Exams.
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE based upon requirements in working area.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility.
Education & Experience
  • 1-2 years in a manufacturing environment a plus.

  • Ability to lift occasionally: (floor to knee) 114 lbs., (waist to waist) 63 lbs., (floor, knee, to waist) 75 lbs., (waist to shoulder) 30 lbs.

Work Environment
  • Hearing protection required in certain areas.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • Temperature fluctuations based on outdoor conditions.
  • PPE required: safety glasses/goggles, aprons, rubber boots, gloves, respirator (provided by company).
