Job summary

Raytheon Intelligence & Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer intern to join the space and airborne optics department in El Segundo, CA. The selected candidate will perform mechanical component design on opto-mechanical systems using Creo, and support assembly, integration and test activities in a lab environment.

The engineer will work with a team of engineers on EO/IR space hardware, generate detailed drawings with GD&T, and present work for peer reviews across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field.
• Minimum of 60 credit hours by internship start.
• Experience in design and development of mechanical hardware and CAD (Creo).
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design drawings with GD&T to meet requirements.
• Research component design and materials for mechanical assemblies.
• Collaborate across cross-functional teams for material selection, thermal management, mounting and structural optimization.
• Present work for peer reviews.
