Job summary

Piper Aircraft seeks an experienced tool design engineer to create and modify NX-based tooling concepts for aviation manufacturing. The role collaborates with Tooling and Manufacturing Engineering to meet milestones and ensure approvals within scope.

The position requires NX CAD expertise, strong report skills, and collaboration with external vendors. A degree in engineering is preferred, with substantial tooling experience in the aerospace sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
• Five to seven years design experience with aircraft tooling preferred.
• NX10 or above, CAD, Unigraphics II, and Microsoft Office literacy required.
• Knowledge of tooling and basic machine shop practices.

Responsibilities

• Generate technical drawings and concepts for new and existing tools. (NX Required)
• Design and develop new tools. (NX Required)
• Check for design continuity and conformance to standards.
• Act as liaison between Tooling and Manufacturing Engineering departments.
• Research world class tooling practices for possible improvements.
• Prepare/update reports on status of current projects.
• Interface with external designers and tooling vendors.
• Prepare and follow up on miscellaneous projects and reports.
• Perform other related duties as required.
