Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cheshire, CT is seeking a Metallurgist for the Materials and Processes Lab to support failure analyses and root cause investigations. You will perform analytical testing and collaborate with internal customers and suppliers, delivering reports and engineering guidance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with material failure analysis and corrective action.
  • Experience with metallurgical analysis and knowledge of metal properties and specifications.
  • Degree in Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics (STEM) with experience (5+ years) or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
  • U.S. Person/Permanent resident status required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical testing including micro-sectioning, SEM/EDS, XRF, XRay, tensile and hardness testing.
  • Support qualification/validation for material and supplier obsolescence.
  • Support product design and daily production of multiple product lines.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering to solve issues from suppliers to customers.
  • Apply design knowledge to troubleshooting and RCCA efforts.
  • Provide support in new product introductions and transitions.
  • Produce reports and documentation to capture solutions and provide guidance.
