Job summary

Raytheon in Tucson, AZ seeks a Mechanical Engineer II for on-site design, analysis and testing of aerospace hardware. You will model components, implement design changes, prepare data packages, apply DFMA and GD&T, perform first-order analyses and lead design reviews.

Occasional vendor travel may be required. The role requires a STEM degree with 2+ years of experience (or advanced degree), strong CAD/GD&T skills, and hands-on hardware development expertise.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
• Professional or University experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), basic tolerance analyses, and drawing practices and interpretation for mechanical hardware.
• Experience with CAD design tools and/or best practices.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to conceptualize, design, develop, analyze, integrate, and test hardware solutions, ensuring alignment with requirements.
• Actively contribute to design peer reviews, address and resolve identified action items, and perform trade studies to facilitate informed and effective technical decision-making.
• Operate independently with limited supervision to serve as the responsible engineer for mechanical hardware development and execution.
• Oversee and manage supplier activities related to the manufacturing of hardware and/or sub-assemblies, including the resolution and disposition of non-conforming hardware.
• Partner with other engineering departments and suppliers to address and resolve technical challenges efficiently.
• Provide support for engineering hardware assembly, including build processes and fit checks.
• Maintain adherence to established budgets and schedules, ensuring the timely and cost-effective completion of assigned tasks.
