Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, invites applications for a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern within Collins Aerospace's Mechanical Controls product line in Windsor Locks, CT. You will join a team to evaluate customer and subsystem hydraulic and pneumatic component requirements to produce compliant hardware designs for airframe and engine systems.

Designs are developed using physics-based performance models and verified with CFD and structural FEA.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM and enrolled through the internship/co-op session.
Must have at least 45 credit hours by the start of the internship/co-op session.
Experience through coursework, research, or projects is acceptable.

Responsibilities

Evaluate customer and subsystem hydraulic/pneumatic requirements to generate compliant hardware designs for airframe and engine systems.
Parts operate in fluid environments (fuel, oil, air) and under demanding conditions.
Generate physics-based performance models (1D) and verify with CFD.
Perform structural analysis (FEA) on designs.
Collaborate with Project Engineering, Dynamic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Drafting, and Structures.
