Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state is seeking a dedicated materials test specialist to develop and execute mechanical and environmental tests for aerospace materials. You will build test fixtures, run programs, analyze data, and document procedures to support Engines programs.

This role requires hands-on lab work, strict safety practices, and collaboration with engineers across teams. Relocation is provided; travel up to 10%; shifts Mon-Fri.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years in material test labs or R&D materials development.
• Experience with mechanical load frames (tension, compression, fatigue, etc.).
• Experience with basic hand tools and precision measurement devices.
• Strong lab skills: weights, measures, chemical hygiene, safety planning.
• Customer-focused with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop novel testing capabilities for mechanical and environmental tests.
• Perform metallurgical and quality analysis per industry standards.
• Develop standard methods, training material, and documentation for lab processes.
• Maintain development equipment and facilities including furnaces and welding equipment.
• Identify new equipment to expand development capability.
• Safely work with hazardous systems and materials.
