Job summary

Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services seeks a Director of Materials to oversee materials control, supply chain, warehouse management, tooling, GSE, and purchasing. This role ensures DOT and FAA compliance while managing the associated personnel and operations.

The ideal candidate has an Associate’s degree or 5–7 years of progressive management experience, strong Excel skills, and deep knowledge of aircraft materials and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 5-7 years of progressively responsible management experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of aircraft materials, hardware, material substitutions, manuals, and specifications.
• Familiarity with DOT hazmat shipping and storage regulations.
• Understanding international shipping regulations, invoicing, customs requirements, and compliance standards.
• Working knowledge of FAR Part 145 Repair Station material and inspection requirements.
• Experience with FAA PMA procedures.
• Knowledge of STC development, manufacturing, and provisioning.

Responsibilities

• Ensure personnel training compliance regarding safe handling of all materials, including hazardous materials.
• Adhere to customer-specific material procedures and HazMat policies.
• Procure raw materials from certified vendors meeting FAA requirements.
• Verify materials meet required quality standards and certifications for receiving inspection.
• Contract maintenance functions only with FAA-approved vendors listed on the AVL.
• Oversee supply chain, storage facilities, shipping processes, scrap parts management, calibrations, and shelf-life program compliance.
• Ensure material resource responsibilities align with Repair Station Manual contracts.
• Manage and maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external audits.
• Oversee budget management for shop supplies, tooling, facilities, and GSE.
