Job summary

The Boeing Company in Berkeley, Missouri, is seeking a Manufacturing Research and Development Engineer to join the Materials and Process Technology group. The MR&D team supports defense and weapons programs, driving advanced manufacturing technology insertion into production.

Responsibilities include supporting paint operations, robotics and automation, equipment, and process development across multiple programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in aerospace or large-scale manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to production programs in coating application, robotics/automation, production equipment, paint process development, and related technologies.
  • Supports operations across paint operations for multiple programs.
  • Applies engineering and scientific principles to design efforts, develop technologies, and reduce aircraft assembly costs.
  • Reviews documents and supports design reviews to ensure proper equipment and process selection for paint fabrication and assembly.
  • Evaluates novel technologies for potential applications to business needs.
  • Performs assessments on technologies and procured equipment for production.
  • Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to implement process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Coordinates with supplier management for purchase of production equipment including high value capital equipment.
  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
  • Resolves programmatic and technical problems affecting cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Supports root cause and corrective action reviews for fabrication and assembly issues.
