Job summary

The Boeing Company in Berkeley, Missouri is seeking a Manufacturing Research and Development Engineer to join the MR&D team. The role focuses on robotics/automation, tooling, and process development to improve aircraft production with input from a technical lead engineer.

You will work on multiple programs, drafting specifications, evaluating new technologies, and supporting cost-reduction initiatives. This is an onsite position with potential relocation considerations and U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
  • 1+ years of industry experience in aerospace or large-scale manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to St. Louis BDS production programs and development projects in robotics/automation, production equipment, mechatronics, process development, and drilling/fastening/inspection/assembly technologies.
  • Support operations across fabrication, paint, and assembly for multiple aircraft and weapons programs.
  • Work with a technical lead engineer; complete tasks on projects and develop solutions to technical problems.
  • Apply engineering and scientific principles to aircraft design efforts and production improvements.
  • Review engineering documents and drawings; support design reviews for equipment and processes.
  • Draft engineering specifications to manage deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes.
  • Assist with development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes.
  • Evaluate novel technologies for potential business applications.
  • Perform assessments on technologies proposed or procured for production.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to implement process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Coordinate with supplier management for purchase of production equipment and high-value capital equipment.
  • Use project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
  • Resolve programmatic and technical problems affecting cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Support root cause and corrective action reviews by conducting engineering investigations.
