Job summary

Actalent in Manchester, CT, seeks a Manufacturing Process Engineer to plan and design manufacturing processes for aerospace parts, defining methods, sequences, and tooling strategies. You will collaborate with shop floor, create operation sheets, and drive tooling concepts while supporting rework and repair instructions for nonconforming parts.

The role emphasizes hands-on shop-floor troubleshooting, cross-functional collaboration, and ongoing process improvements in a fast-paced aerospace

Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing engineering and general manufacturing engineering.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T for military and commercial specs.
  • Knowledge of methods, routings, and process sequencing.
  • Solid modeling and documentation, especially SolidWorks.
  • Ability to create work instructions, operation sheets, and travelers.
  • Tooling and fixture concepting with shop-floor feedback.
  • Shop-floor troubleshooting and process improvement experience.
  • Ability to write rework and repair methods for nonconformances.
  • Strong cross-functional communication with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers.
  • Project management skills; MS Project experience preferred.
  • Process changes reducing scrap, rework, bottlenecks, or cycle time.
  • Ownership of shop-floor troubleshooting and fixes.
  • Tooling/fixture changes improving consistency or ergonomics.
  • Tenure stability valued.

Responsibilities

  • Own projects for new and existing aerospace parts and assemblies.
  • Determine manufacturing methods and process sequencing to meet specs and goals.
  • Create operation sheets and work instructions using SolidWorks or equivalent.
  • Initiate tooling and fixture concepts and gather shop floor feedback.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement method improvements.
  • Write rework and repair methods for timelines and planning.
  • Participate in customer and supplier discussions when required.
  • Support cost estimating as needed.
