Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems and optimize supply chain logistics within Production/Operations. The role focuses on producibility, quality control, and cost reduction while collaborating with Design, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.

You will work on crewed-spacecraft hardware on the MK2 Crew Systems team, taking concepts to flight-ready units in a hands-on, dev-to-production environment.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role.
  • 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve manufacturing risks and drive process improvements.
  • U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Production Readiness activities (PRRs) and assess MRLS/PRLs.
  • Provide DFMA support with design/engineering teams to improve producibility.
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing docs: work instructions, process flows, tooling, inspection plans.
  • Support build of development and flight units; resolve process/hardware issues on the floor.
  • Perform root cause analysis of non-conformances; implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines/equipment.
  • Ensure work aligns with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Identify and integrate automation/digital tools to streamline ME operations.
  • Lead cross-functional ME teams across Design, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations.
