Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Wells, Maine, seeks a trainee for a weekend shift (Fri-Sun, 6:00am-6:30pm) to learn to set up and operate NC milling and grinding equipment on weldments and assemblies. You will attend a 3-week training and 4-8 weeks of on-the-job training to become a Certified Operator.

No extensive machining background required; high school diploma or GED is required. This entry-level program offers hands-on instruction and collaboration with engineers and QA to resolve machining issues.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• 1+ years of manufacturing, automotive or related trade experience is preferred.
• Ability to make computations involving decimals and fractions.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTCs to perform routine production operations on weldments and assemblies.
• Learn to verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
• Learn TPM maintenance and work with engineers, QA, programmers to resolve machining problems.
