Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is hiring for a 2nd shift Operator position in North Berwick, ME. The role trains individuals with limited machining experience to operate NC milling/grinding machines and related equipment, with a 3-week training followed by 4–8 weeks of on-the-job training. English proficiency is required.

You will learn setup, operation, inspection, and TPM, progressing toward operator certification while collaborating with engineering and quality teams.

Qualifications

• High School or GED.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTCs to perform routine production operations on a variety of weldments and assemblies.
• Learn to work from operation sheets, part travelers, BOROPS, and oral instruction to set up equipment for grinding, turning, facing, boring and/or chamfering operations.
• Learn to verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
• Learn to maintain machines by performing required total preventive maintenance (TPM).
• Work with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and other production personnel to resolve machining problems.
