Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking to hire for a weekend shift operator role designed to train individuals with limited machining background into a certified operator. The position includes a 3-week training program and hands-on training over 4–8 weeks, with opportunities to learn how to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines and related equipment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1+ years of manufacturing, automotive or related trade experience preferred.
• Ability to make computations involving decimals and fractions.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTCs to perform routine production operations on weldments and assemblies.
• Learn to verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Obtain operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
• Learn to maintain machines by performing required total preventive maintenance (TPM).
• Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance, programmers and production personnel to resolve machining problems.
