Job summary

RTX's Collins Avionics facility in Melbourne, FL invites a motivated Industrial/Mechanical Engineering student to join as a co‑op. You will work in a cross‑functional team to apply manufacturing concepts, perform root cause analysis, and support Lean/Six Sigma initiatives in a dynamic production environment.

The program runs January–August, with a focus on learning standard work development, production issue resolution, and hands‑on design of tooling and layouts.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering during the co‑op.
• Must have earned at least 30 credit hours by the start of the co‑op session.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with CAD software including SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Immersive full-time co-op session from January to August; improve operator productivity and design tooling for manufacturing processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis and develop countermeasures for manufacturing equipment and product.
• Support Lean/Six Sigma initiatives (5S, waste reduction, flow improvements).
• Analyze manufacturing processes for cost reduction opportunities; plan and design layouts for processes and equipment.
