Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking an experienced Hardware Project Manager (HPM) / Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive avionics development from concept to flight.

You will anchor the hardware lifecycle, bridging Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality to meet tight mission milestones. Lead cross-functional teams, manage schedules, risk registers, ECOs, and DFx reviews while ensuring on-time delivery for space-grade hardware.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical or related technical discipline.
  • 3–5+ years of experience leading complex hardware development programs in high-reliability industries.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end hardware development lifecycle including PCB design, qualification, manufacturing and production.
  • Experience managing cross-functional engineering teams and coordinating across Hardware, Embedded Software, FPGA, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Integration & Test.
  • Proficiency with Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet, and PLM systems like Arena, Windchill or Agile PLM.
  • Excellent organizational and stakeholder management skills, with ability to drive execution in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Translate high-level spacecraft avionics requirements into executable hardware development plans and manage execution.
  • Develop, maintain and own the integrated hardware development schedule including schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, bring-up and qualification.
  • Drive milestone execution through agile or phase-gated development methodologies and mitigate schedule risks.
  • Lead cross-functional execution across Hardware Engineering, Embedded Software, FPGA, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Integration & Test and Quality.
  • Facilitate DFM, DFA and DFT reviews while supporting production test development.
  • Own hardware program risk management, maintain risk register, resolve blockers, manage ECOs, MRBs and configuration control.
  • Partner with Supply Chain for vendor selection, PCB fabrication, long-lead component procurement and transition to production.
  • Own PLM including BOMs, AMLs, part numbering, release management and design documentation.
  • Drive hardware quality and reliability through EMC/EMI, signal integrity, power integrity and environmental qualification.
  • Support spacecraft integration, environmental testing, launch campaigns and on-orbit anomaly investigation.
  • Contribute to avionics architecture, strategy and scale hardware development processes.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
