Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Welder (entry to senior) to perform manual GTAW welding on aerospace-grade components under supervision. You will read drawings, prepare joints, and help validate weld quality in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Ideal candidates have 0–10+ years of GTAW experience, read blueprints, and can pass a weld test. Relocation is available and multiple positions exist across shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–10+ years of GTAW (TIG) welding experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or vocational training.
• Ability to read/interpret basic engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and work instructions.
• Fundamentals of GTAW welding: joint types, filler metals, shielding gas, tungsten prep, and machine setup.
• Must pass a practical weld test (1G and 2G) on carbon or stainless steel.
• Comfort using hand tools and basic measuring equipment (calipers, tape, fillet gauges).
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S. per program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual GTAW (TIG) welding on aerospace components under supervision.
• Prepare weld joints: clean, fit, tack, and position parts per drawings and process docs.
• Read engineering drawings and weld symbols to understand joint configurations and materials.
• Self-inspect welds against standards and report defects to lead welder or QA.
• Set up GTAW equipment: select filler wire, tungsten, shielding gas, and parameters.
• Use calipers and gauges to verify fit‑up dimensions and weld profiles.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow PPE and ventilation requirements.
• Assist senior welders with complex welds and post‑weld operations (grinding/blending).
• Participate in weld practice, qualification tests, and certifications.
• Support material handling and shop operations (moving weldments, fixtures).
