Job summary

Amentum Space Exploration Division seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design fixtures, jigs, and tooling for welding operations on aerospace hardware at NASA MSFC in Huntsville, AL. You will translate requirements into robust tooling concepts and guide junior engineers.

The role advances spaceflight readiness under ESSCA, involves safe handling, and collaboration with customers. On-site duties, rigorous standards, and continuous improvement are expected as you contribute to Moon‑to‑Mars goals.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field with experience
• Experience developing fixture design concepts, jigs and lifting/handling tools in aerospace environment
• Ability to obtain and maintain customer safety certifications and travel as needed

Responsibilities

• Develop fixture design concepts to position and hold components during welding operations
• Develop and maintain positioning/alignment of parts under process forces
• Mentor junior engineers and produce drawings, parts lists, and assembly plans
• Represent the organization at technical meetings and conferences
