Job summary

Amentum seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for Space Exploration Projects to support NASA's future exploration activities and develop design solutions for space hardware.

You will work in a team to design, analyze, and implement technical products, produce ASME Y14.5 drawings, and perform tolerance analyses including thermal effects. Strong communication and hands-on CAD experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of related aerospace/mechanical experience.
• Experience designing parts and assemblies using 3D CAD.
• Experience producing drawings conforming to ASME Y14.5.
• Experience applying tolerance analyses, including thermal effects and GD&T.
• Experience with machine shop processes and rapid prototyping (3D printing).
• Experience with structural and thermal analysis. Guidelines and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Support NASA's future space exploration activities.
• Work in a team to analyze requirements and develop design solutions.
• Design, develop, test, analyze, and implement technical products and systems.
• Produce engineering drawings conforming to applicable standards.
• Perform dimensional tolerance analyses, including thermal effects and GD&T.
• Prepare and present at various design reviews.
• Produce other design documentation as required.
