Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Fullerton, CA is seeking a Surface Finishing Lead to oversee daily finishing operations, including wet processing, painting, masking, and part marking for aerospace fittings. You will ensure quality, safety, and production targets are met while mentoring technicians.

This full-time 2nd shift role offers $29–$31 per hour plus shift differential and eligibility for annual bonuses, with a focus on compliance with NADCAP/AS9100 standards and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 5 years in aerospace metal finishing operations (wet processing and painting).
• Strong knowledge of aerospace surface finishing standards and specs.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and instructions.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
• U.S. work authorization; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate wet processing, painting, masking/unmasking, and part marking.
• Perform in-process inspections to meet specs.
• Provide hands-on support to meet production demands.
• Train and mentor finishing personnel on techniques, equipment, and safety.
• Ensure adherence to drawings, specs, and work instructions.
• Monitor safety practices per company policies and OSHA regulations.
• Collaborate with QA to resolve non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Schedule work assignments to meet production priorities and deadlines.
• Monitor inventory related to finishing operations and submit requisitions.
• Inspect tools, equipment, and facilities for safe operation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve quality.
• Document production records and shop floor data entries.
