Job summary

Embedded Software Engineering Intern at AeroVironment will work with experienced engineers to design, develop, and test embedded software for unmanned aerial and robotic systems. You will gain hands-on experience writing software for microcontrollers, processors, and related hardware used in flight systems and sensors.

This 12-week, onsite internship emphasizes prototyping, testing, and learning industry best practices in embedded software development within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field.
• Basic knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with C, C++, or Python.
• Understanding of low-level software concepts and hardware interfaces.
• Exposure to I2C, SPI, UART, or CAN.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and testing embedded software for autopilots, sensors, and radios.
• Develop in C/C++ for real-time and bare-metal systems on microcontrollers.
• Support integration of software with hardware and debugging with lab tools.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, and mechanical engineers.
• Participate in peer reviews, documentation, and configuration processes.
• Contribute to lab and field tests of embedded systems.
• Assist in prototyping and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
