Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Hampton, Virginia is seeking an Electrician to join the Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) group. The role involves installing and repairing electrical systems on industrial machinery, with 2nd shift (3pm-11pm) and 3rd shift (11pm-7am) options, and training on 1st shift (7am-3pm).

An hourly shift premium of $1.00 per hour applies when on off shifts. The position requires an associate degree and 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, with flexibility to work all shifts

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience with electrical systems.
• Ability to work all shifts and maintain attendance as required.
• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow printed work instructions.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Install conduit and wiring for all electrical systems within the facility.
• Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment; connect cables between machines and subsystem equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctioning electrical components and replace damaged wiring or components.
• Test malfunctioning machinery and work with maintenance staff to identify root causes.
• Use testing devices such as ammeters, voltmeters, meggers, thermal scanners and cable testers.
• Replace faulty electrical components (relays, switches, motors, sensors).
• Plan wiring layouts and install wiring, conduit and electrical apparatus in buildings.
• Diagnose and repair faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
• Adhere to attendance policies and perform overtime as needed.
• Other duties within scope as assigned by supervisory leadership.
