Job summary

FMS Aerospace in Huntsville is seeking a full-time Electrical Assembly Technician to join the production team. You will build electrical cables, wire harnesses, and related assemblies per drawings and customer specs, documenting work and ensuring quality.

This role requires attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to support teammates on the shop floor. Experience in avionics wiring, IPC standards, and ability to read wiring diagrams is preferred; U.S.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years building cables, wire harnesses, or aircraft/avionics electrical assemblies.
• Experience with both crimp and solder harness work.
• Ability to read drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, work instructions, and BOMs.
• Familiarity with IPC standards (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620).
• U.S. citizen with active DOD clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

• Build cables, wire harnesses, and related electrical assemblies from orders, drawings, changes, customer specs, and process instructions.
• Read drawings, specifications, part numbers, markings, and workmanship requirements.
• Pull wires, connectors, and hardware from BOM by part number, quantity, and revision.
• Cut, strip, route, crimp, solder, terminate, and label wiring.
• Install heat shrink, boots, backshells, and protective hardware.
• Use shop tools like strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, hand tools, and torque tools.
• Test assemblies for continuity, shorts, and grounds.
• Integrate harnesses into assemblies, enclosures, or racks as required.
• Complete travelers and shop records.
• Follow AS9100, ESD, FOD, tool-control, and shop safety practices.
• Flag drawing, parts, or workmanship issues to leads and management.
