Qualifications

  • Familiarity with IPC/J-STD standards and MIL specs.
  • U.S. citizen with active DoD clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Build cables, wire harnesses, and electrical assemblies from orders and drawings.
  • Read drawings, part numbers, and workmanship requirements.
  • Select wires, connectors, and hardware from BOM by part and revision.
  • Crimp, solder, terminate, and label wiring.
  • Install protective hardware and heat shrink.
  • Use shop tools like strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, and torque tools.
  • Test assemblies for continuity, shorts, and grounds.
  • Integrate harnesses into assemblies or equipment racks.
  • Complete travelers and shop records.
  • Follow AS9100, ESD, FOD, tool-control and shop safety practices.
  • Flag issues to leads and management.

Our client is hiring a full-time Electrical Assembly Technician for their Huntsville shop. This person will be part of the production team and will build electrical assemblies on schedule, document the work, and meet quality standards on every job. The role requires close attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to support teammates on the shop floor. It is a good fit for someone interested in avionics and aircraft electrical systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build cables, wire harnesses, and related electrical assemblies from manufacturing orders, drawings, engineering changes, customer specifications, and process instructions.
  • Read drawings, specifications, part numbers, markings, and workmanship requirements.
  • Pull the correct wires, connectors, and hardware from the bill of material by part number, quantity, and revision.
  • Cut, strip, route, crimp, solder, terminate, and label wiring.
  • Install heat shrink, boots, backshells, and other protective hardware.
  • Use shop tools such as strippers, crimpers, soldering irons, hand tools, and torque tools.
  • Test completed assemblies for continuity, shorts, and grounds.
  • Integrate finished harnesses into assemblies, enclosures, or equipment racks as required.
  • Complete travelers and shop records.
  • Follow AS9100, ESD, FOD, tool-control, and shop safety practices.
  • Flag drawing, parts, or workmanship issues to leads and management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years building cables, wire harnesses, or aircraft/avionics electrical assemblies in a production shop.
  • Experience with both crimp and solder harness work.
  • Ability to read drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, work instructions, and bills of material.
  • Working knowledge of IPC standards, including J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and IPC-A-620.
  • Familiarity with IPC, J-STD, SAE AS, and MIL specifications used in defense/aerospace harness work.
  • Ability to use basic electronic test equipment, including multimeters and insulation testers.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent workmanship.
  • Ability to work with shop teammates and keep documentation accurate.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must currently possess an active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current or previous IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification.
  • J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 certification.
  • Harness or solder experience to IPC Class 3.
  • Experience in an AS9100 aerospace or defense shop.
  • Familiarity with analog and digital electronics.
  • Experience with aircraft or airframe electrical modifications.
  • A&P or other aviation/avionics certification.
  • Military or DoD electrical/avionics background.
  • Familiarity with aircraft wiring practices such as SAE AS50881.
  • Use of an oscilloscope, signal generator, or similar test equipment.
