Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in Frederica, Delaware, seeks a Design for Manufacturing Engineer to support EVA and IVA spacesuit system assembly, testing, and pre-ship evaluation. You will work with design, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to ensure manufacturability, quality, and on-time delivery throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace or related field.
• 0–5 years in design, manufacturing, integration, testing, production, or sustainment.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, BOMs, and work instructions.
• Proficiency in standard engineering software and 3D CAD; GD&T familiarity preferred.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel to local worksites and suppliers as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for EVA/IVA spacesuit manufacturing operations to maintain OTIF delivery.
• Collect, analyze, and document environmental, mechanical, electrical, and functional test data for verification and validation.
• Evaluate and disposition nonconforming hardware per requirements and QA standards.
• Drive manufacturing efficiency and product quality via process improvements and tooling upgrades.
• Collaborate with design engineering to incorporate DFx principles into new products.
• Lead root cause analyses and CAPA to improve reliability and production performance.
• Develop, review, and maintain configuration-controlled engineering documentation.
