Job summary

Bergen Cable Technology Inc. in New Jersey seeks a Design Engineer to translate customer requirements into manufacturable aerospace products while maintaining the integrity of engineering data throughout the product lifecycle.

The Design Engineer serves as the technical bridge between Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Planning by evaluating new opportunities, maintaining ERP engineering data, and administering engineering documentation in accordance with AS9100 D.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
• 2 years of experience in AutoCAD.
• 2 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role.
• Experience working with an ERP system involving Bills of Material and Routings.
• Experience in ISO9001/AS9100 environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer inquiries for feasibility and manufacturability.
• Prepare feasibility reports, BOMs, and routing estimates for new opportunities.
• Participate in customer calls to provide engineering support and guidance; coordinate prototype/sample builds for new business development; obtain quotations from suppliers.
• Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) and Routers within the ERP system; ensure engineering master data reflects manufacturing methods; improve routing to enhance scheduling accuracy.
• Conduct time studies to establish labor standards; analyze workstation performance to improve efficiency; support ECOs and product revisions; maintain manufacturing docs.
