Job summary

AeroVironment is hiring a Supervisor, Designing and Drafting to lead a team of engineers and drafters in creating and managing engineering drawings and related documentation. You will ensure high quality output and mentorship, aligning with aerospace standards and ITAR considerations.

The role emphasizes resource planning, process improvement, and solid expertise in CAD tools like SolidWorks, EPDM, and MS Office for cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in creation, review, and change management of engineering drawings and other technical documentation.
• Experience in a Team Leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and Y14.5, and other ASME Y14 series standards.
• Experience in aerospace industry configuration management practices.
• Experience with drawings: machined parts, composite, plastics, sheet metal, PCB, weldments, and related drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assigns drafting resources to projects and resolves conflicts.
• Defines scope of work and work estimates for projects.
• Monitors project progress, resolves issues, and escalates when needed.
• Supports production, product engineering, and configuration management with drawing releases and revisions.
• Maintains drafting group standards, processes, and procedures.
• Leads continual improvement initiatives for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Oversees implementation and training of the engineering data management system (e.g., SolidWorks EPDM).
• Identifies resource needs, recruits, interviews, and mentors staff.
• Evaluates staff performance and conducts regular performance reviews.
