Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Mechanical Drafting Technician to support our engineering team in designing and documenting custom machined parts, assemblies, and BOMs using SolidWorks. The role focuses on capturing technical data into our PLM system and producing precise drawings across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering disciplines.

The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of drafting experience, familiarity with GD&T, and the ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design/Drafting.
• 1–3 years of experience in mechanical/electro-mechanical design drawings.
• Experience with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and detailed drawings.
• Familiarity with GD&T and PLM systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update mechanical CAD models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to translate design intent into drawings and BOMs.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation packages for internal reviews and manufacturing release.
• Conduct drawing checks for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
• Provide cross-functional support to mechanical, manufacturing, and configuration management teams.
• Other duties as assigned.
