Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a Chemist to identify aerospace coatings needs, collaborate with internal teams, and develop new technologies with significant commercial impact.

You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver complex technical projects, evaluate materials, and develop formulations for new products. Travel up to 10% is expected; sponsorship is not provided and a performance bonus is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Polymer Science/Engineering required.
• 2-3 years of coatings industry experience delivering technologies.
• 2-3 years of laboratory experience with 2K epoxy and urethane systems.
• Strong critical-thinking skills and data-analysis capabilities.
• Ability to tailor communications to diverse audiences.
• Adaptability to changing demands and environments.

Responsibilities

• Identify aerospace coatings needs and collaborate with internal teams and vendors to develop new technologies with commercial impact.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver key technical projects and provide timely solutions of moderate complexity.
• Evaluate materials, solve technical problems, and develop formulations for new products.
• Design and execute experiments, analyze results, and recommend next steps.
• Communicate results and project status through written updates and reports.
• Prepare technical reports and develop documentation for intellectual property.
• Collaborate with internal teams to leverage shared expertise and support project objectives.
• Travel to support manufacturing, line trials, and customer visits.
• Train or mentor chemists and technicians; participate in additional duties as assigned.
