Job summary

S&S Manufacturing, Inc. in Wichita, KS is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate high-precision CNC machines, reading drawings and CAD models to ensure parts meet tight tolerances.

You will work with engineering and quality teams, perform first article inspections, troubleshoot tooling, and document setups to support continuous improvement in aerospace components. 4–8 years of related experience preferred; high school diploma required; swing shifts may be involved.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years as a CNC Machinist.
• Experience in CNC machine setup, operation, and programming for complex parts with tight tolerances.
• Familiarity with aerospace materials and their machining requirements is preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, CATIA, Siemens NX) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program (if required), and operate CNC machines per engineering drawings and specifications.
• Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical documents to determine operations, tooling, and part dimensions.
• Select cutting tools, speeds, and feeds to optimize processes for accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform first article inspections (FAI) and in-process quality checks to ensure parts meet requirements.
• Troubleshoot tooling or setup issues to minimize downtime and ensure production quality.
• Document machine setups, part dimensions, and tool usage for repeatability and traceability.
• Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines and keep calibration up to date.
