Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a CNC Machinist in Wichita, KS. The role involves setting up and operating CNC machines to produce aircraft-grade components from detailed drawings and CAD models.

You’ll ensure tight tolerances, inspect parts, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to optimize processes. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of CNC machining experience, familiarity with CAD/CAM software, and strong GD&T skills.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret blueprints and GD&T; understand material properties used in aircraft components.
• Experience with cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials (aluminum, titanium, composites).
• Familiarity with aerospace materials and their machining requirements; knowledge of quality inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM).
• Proficient in CNC programming and operating multiple CNC machines (mills, lathes, multi-axis).

Responsibilities

• Program, setup, and operate CNC machines per drawings and specs.
• Interpret complex blueprints, CAD models, and docs to determine tooling and dimensions.
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for efficient, precise machining.
• Perform first article inspections and in-process quality checks.
• Troubleshoot tooling/setup issues to minimize downtime.
• Maintain tight tolerances and adjust offsets as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams on process improvements.
• Document setups, part dimensions, and tool usage for repeatability.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of CNC machines.
