Job summary

United Launch Alliance is seeking an Aerospace Production Technician - CNC Machinist in Decatur, AL. The role involves setting up and operating large 3 to 5 axis CNC machines to produce high-quality production hardware, including aluminum ring forgings and stainless steel components.

You will interpret blueprints, verify CNC programs, and maintain quality while adhering to shift schedules. Candidates should have 6+ years of machining experience and knowledge of speeds/feeds.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Minimum of 6 years of related machining experience.
• Experience with 3 to 5 axis machining/turning.
• Knowledge and understanding of CNC programming.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience with basic machine shop measuring tools.
• Knowledge of speeds and feeds for machine cutters.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operation of large 3 to 5 axis CNC Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL) and CNC Gantry Milling machines for turning and milling of aluminum ring forgings, plates, and stainless steel parts.
• Set-up tooling fixtures, indicating in large ring forgings and plates, identifying tool requirements, loading CNC programs, and inspecting parts.
• Validate CNC program configuration while maintaining blueprint specifications.
• Work to specified tolerances and finishes to achieve blueprint specifications.
• Perform maintenance procedures on machinery to ensure proper operation.
