Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Designer II to support the design and development of aerospace hardware by creating detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and product documentation. You will translate concepts into manufacturable designs while ensuring compliance with industry standards and GD&T within PLM environments.

The role involves a 6-month contract with potential extension or conversion, offering an hourly rate of $40-65.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or CAD modeling.
• Strong proficiency creating and modifying 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Understanding of engineering and mechanical design principles.
• Experience identifying design issues and contributing to design improvements.
• Familiarity with material properties, manufacturing processes, and fabrication methods.
• Fundamental understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
• Attention to detail, organization, and configuration management practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively and support multiple projects.
• Experience with NX, SolidWorks, CATIA or similar CAD platforms.
• Knowledge of aerospace/defense product development and documentation standards.
• Experience developing designs for aerospace structures, mechanisms, or flight hardware.
• Familiarity with additive manufacturing and CNC machining.
• Understanding MBSD methodologies.
• Experience in regulated environments.
• Strong technical documentation and report-writing skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot design challenges and drive solutions to completion.
