Job summary

Sierra Space is seeking a Designer II to create and modify detailed CAD drawings from engineering sketches. You will apply GD&T, verify design integrity, and generate 3D models and detailed drawings within PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill.

You will collaborate with engineers to resolve design issues, ensure manufacturability, and uphold quality standards. Proficiency with NX, SolidWorks, CATIA (or similar) is preferred to advance aerospace initiatives.

Qualifications

• Typically 2+ years of related experience in engineering design.
• Understanding of intermediate engineering principles and CAD usage.
• Fundamental GD&T knowledge and ability to identify design inconsistencies.
• Familiarity with material properties and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter/Windchill) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify detailed drawings using CAD hardware/software from engineering sketches or notes.
• Identify design inconsistencies and contribute to design Modifications to improve quality.
• Ensure compliance with established design standards and GD&T methods.
• Maintain organized PLM documentation in systems like Teamcenter or Windchill.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop innovative designs and resolve issues.
