Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a mid-level Designer II in Colorado to advance complex aerospace/defense designs. You will produce detailed drawings, 3D models, and integrated design solutions, guiding junior staff and ensuring standards compliance.

Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams will be essential to meet requirements and budgets. Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or CATIA is expected, with a strong grasp of GD&T concepts and MBOM practices.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Design, Drafting, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in design or drafting within aerospace/defense.
• Higher level degree may substitute for experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or CATIA.
• Strong understanding of design principles, drafting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
• Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools and technical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of detailed designs, technical drawings, and 3D models.
• Oversee review and refinement of layouts, drawings, and models for accuracy.
• Identify and resolve design errors and implement improvements.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to meet specs and budget.
• Prepare documentation and reports for design reviews and milestones.
• Utilize CAD software to create high-quality drawings and models.
• Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance.
• Ensure designs comply with regulatory and safety requirements.
• Participate in design meetings and contribute to process improvements.
