Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a Designer II to develop and refine complex designs, drawings, and 3D models for advanced aerospace and defense projects. You will lead design efforts, ensure adherence to standards, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project requirements in a hybrid office environment.

The role requires an associates degree in design or drafting and 2+ years of aerospace experience, with proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA).

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Design, Drafting, or related field required.
• 2+ years of experience in design or drafting in aerospace/defense preferred.
• Higher degree may substitute for experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks/CATIA) and understanding of design standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of detailed designs, drawings, and 3D models for aerospace/defense projects.
• Review layouts and models for accuracy and adherence to standards.
• Identify and resolve design defects and implement improvements.
• Coordinate with engineers and stakeholders to meet specs and budget constraints.
• Prepare documentation to support design reviews and milestones.
• Utilize CAD tools to create high-quality drawings and models.
• Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance.
• Ensure designs comply with regulatory and safety requirements.
• Participate in design meetings and drive process improvements.
